To create this graphic about exercises you can do at the office, the entire graphics department of the Post got together twice a day to do the exercises. It was a hilarious group activity — we attracted a lot of stares from passersby in the newsroom. I really enjoyed jumping around a little bit in the middle of the day to get the blood pumping. Putting graphics in motion

Check out my first motion graphics piece, created for part two of Top Secret America, an investigation from The Washington Post. I worked with Dana Priest to write the script and I recorded the voiceover and did all the animation in After Effects. I created the graphic with maps made by Nathaniel Vaughn Kelso. Alternative story formats: Investigation into Alaska native corporations

This investigation, which launched September 30, focused on Alaska Native Corporations and their explosive growth during the last decade. I combined photos, graphics and video in a multimedia slideshow. The intention was to build a relationship between the corporations and the shareholders they represent. Alaska natives are some of the nation’s poorest people, and some of the corporations that were supposed to be helping them make their way have instead been funneling money back to contractors in Washington.

D.C.’s rock scene: 9:30 club turns 30

Akira Hakuta created these videos about the five finalists in The Washington Post’s Peeps Diorama contest, which has some really creative entries this year. Videos feature The Mad Hatter, Korean War memorial, the movie Up, and “Goodnight Peeps.” I created the player, which is almost exactly the same as the Scene In player. New project: Graphic explains the search for a serial rapist

I worked on this graphic with reporters Josh White and Maria Glod, who collected an incredible amount of information on the East Coast Rapist, a man who has been on the loose for 13 years and is a suspect in 17 cases. Early this year (Jan. 29-Feb. 11), I went to India with Whitney. We traveled to Mumbai, Udaipur, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, New Delhi, Agra, Rishikesh and Haridwar. It was a whirlwind trip, but totally amazing. Our good friend from college, Samkit Shah, who is from Mumbai, traveled with us and helped us find all the best deals and interesting places.
